C-10 — Electrical Contractor License

C-10 is the California Contractors State License Board classification for Electrical Contractors. It authorizes work involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, conduit, panels, service entrances, and most fixed electrical infrastructure in residential and commercial buildings. Sunrise holds a C-10 license (license # C10-1097237).
What C-10 covers: - Electrical panel installation, repair, and replacement - Service entrance work (meter combos, mast, weatherhead) - Branch circuit installation (outlets, switches, dedicated circuits, EV charger circuits) - Battery storage installation and wiring - Disconnects, breakers, grounding and bonding - Coordination with PG&E for service connections - AHJ electrical permit pulls and inspection coordination
What C-10 does NOT cover: - HVAC equipment installation (that's C-20) - Solar PV array installation (that's C-46 — though batteries fall under C-10) - Plumbing (that's C-36, separate license)
When you hire a "general contractor" for an electrification project, several licenses are typically involved. The C-10 electrician (Sunrise) handles wiring, panels, and infrastructure. The C-20 HVAC contractor installs the heat pump itself. The C-36 plumber handles water heater plumbing. We coordinate; we don't replace those other licensed scopes.
Working with a contractor licensed for the actual scope of work matters. We won't take on work that falls outside C-10 because we're not licensed for it — and a contractor working outside their classification creates issues with permits, inspections, and (downstream) insurance claims if something goes wrong.
