Want to do real residential electrical work on the homes people actually live in?

Sunrise hires residential electricians and apprentices in Santa Cruz County. We do service work, not new construction. The homes are existing. The customers are real. The work matters.

01·Why Sunrise

Most contractors are construction shops. They're built around six-month new-build projects with big invoices and a different rhythm — pull wire fast, move on, never see the homeowner again.

Sunrise is built differently. We're a service business for existing homes — Santa Cruz County homes that already have people living in them. Panels that need to come up to code. EV chargers that need installing. Knob-and-tube rewires in westside Victorians. Heat pump conversion electrical — panel capacity, dedicated circuits, disconnects (the equipment itself is set by our C-20 HVAC partner). Whole-home rewires. ADU electrical setups. The work where the customer is standing right there asking you a question, and your answer matters.

That changes what kind of electrician thrives here. We hire people who:

  • Care about doing the work right. Cutting corners doesn't fit our 20-year workmanship warranty. If you're the person who wants the connection to be perfect even when nobody would notice, you'll fit.
  • Treat the customer's home like a customer's home. Drop cloths down. Wires fished through existing walls when possible. Smaller access holes. Dust vacuumed up. The space left the way we found it.
  • Communicate. Customers will ask you what you're doing. You explain. You don't make them feel dumb for asking. You earn their trust through the conversation, not just the work.
  • Want to grow. We don't have a “career ceiling” where you max out. Apprentices become journeyman electricians here. Journeymen become leads, or specialize, or lead training. We promote internally first.

1

You fill out the form below.

Takes about 10 minutes. We'll ask the basics — name, contact info, position, certification, experience, why Sunrise.

We get back to you within 5 business days.

Real reply, not an automated “thanks for applying” with no follow-up. If you're a fit, we'll set up a call.

3

Phone or video call.

With Branden (or someone on the team) — 30 minutes, low-stakes. We talk about your experience, your interests, what you'd want from the role. You ask questions about Sunrise.

4

In-person interview + ride-along.

If it's a good fit so far. You meet the team, ride on a real job, see what the work actually looks like.

5

Offer.

If everyone's on board, we make an offer. Standard background check + license verification + drug screen (per California labor law). We try to keep the process quick — if something takes longer, we'll tell you what's up.

We're a growing company. Sometimes we have unposted needs. Sometimes the right person makes us create a role.
