Sunrise's 20-Year Workmanship Warranty
Sunrise Electrical Contracting, Inc. warrants all workmanship on residential electrical installations for 20 years from the date of completion. Twenty years is unusually long for residential electrical, and the math only works if we do the job right the first time. That's the whole bet.
What's covered
The warranty covers our workmanship — the quality of how we did the work:
- Installation labor — wire pulls, connections, terminations, conduit routing, panel buildouts
- Defects in the installation itself
- Sunrise-installed materials specifically against installation-related failure (separate from any manufacturer warranty on the underlying equipment)
What's not covered
- Manufacturer defects in equipment. A Siemens breaker fails internally, a Tesla Wall Connector firmware bricks, a Generac generator throws a control-board error — those go through the manufacturer's own warranty. We'll help you file the claim and handle the replacement install if it comes to that.
- Customer-supplied materials or equipment. We installed it, but the warranty rests with whoever supplied the product.
- Damage from outside causes: weather, lightning, utility power surges, water intrusion, rodents and pests, fire.
- Damage from third parties: other contractors who modify our work, DIY modifications by the homeowner.
- Normal wear items: light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, fuses.
- Cosmetic issues unrelated to electrical function: settling cracks near outlets, paint scuffs from normal use.
- Damage from conditions discovered post-install that weren't disclosed or accessible during the original scope — for example, extensive hidden rodent damage in an attic that wasn't visible during the walk.
- Acts of God.
Transferable to the next homeowner
If you sell your home, the warranty transfers to the new homeowner with a written assignment. The new owner contacts us to register the transfer.
The warranty period continues from the original install date — it does not reset on transfer. A panel we installed five years ago has fifteen years of warranty remaining whether it's still the original owner or a brand new one.
How to make a warranty claim
- 1. Call (831) 786-5506 or email service@sunriseelectricalcontracting.com.
- 2. Describe the issue and reference the original job (date, address, or whatever you have).
- 3. We schedule a service visit within 5 business days. In practice we often respond faster, but 5 business days is our written commitment.
- 4. If the issue falls within warranty terms, we repair or redo the work at no charge to you.
- 5. If the issue is outside the warranty (manufacturer defect, customer-caused damage, outside force), we diagnose at no charge and quote the repair separately.
Your responsibilities
- Allow Sunrise to perform the warranty work. You can't hire another contractor and charge the cost back to us.
- The warranty doesn't cover code updates that happen after the original install. The California Electrical Code updates every three years; bringing older work up to a newer code is a separate decision, not a warranty matter.
Liability limits
Sunrise's liability under this warranty is limited to the cost of the original installation. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages — spoiled food in a fridge that lost power, business loss from a tripped circuit, that kind of thing.
