“Thank you to the Sunrise Electrical Contracting team for updating the new main electrical system on my mom's home after the storm damaged the power lines and home equipment this winter… They replaced Main Service Upgrade Overhead, and added a Sub-Panel Install/Replacement Outdoors… the team of Branden, Jimmy, Ian, and Tylor worked long hours during the storm for a few days to get us up and running again before the next storm arrived.”
Soquel electrician — service-first in the heart of Mid-County
Soquel Village's historic core. Newer developments off Soquel Drive. Mostly ranch + craftsman homes — we work here every week.
Soquel is small but central — the Mid-County hub between Santa Cruz and Aptos. The housing leans toward 1955–1985 ranch homes plus some Victorian + craftsman in the older Soquel Village core. Electrical stock is mostly the era-typical 100A–125A panels with the occasional Federal Pacific or Zinsco hiding in homes built in the late 50s–60s.
We do a lot of Soquel work because it's our routing hub — when we're driving from Santa Cruz to Aptos, we're going through Soquel. EV chargers are common (Soquel has high EV ownership), and lots of customers are starting electrification work — heat pumps, induction range conversions, water heater swaps. The 1960s-era panels often can't support the new load without an upgrade first.
Permits go through Santa Cruz County Planning (Soquel is unincorporated). Standard process.
Every kind of electrical work in Soquel.
What people here actually call us about.
“Heat pump conversion in a 1965 ranch with a 100A panel”
Typical Soquel project. Heat pump load is high enough that we usually do a panel upgrade + the circuit work together.
“Induction range conversion as part of an electrification plan”
Customer doing electrification one appliance at a time. We help sequence + size the panel for the full plan.
“FPE panel discovered during a Soquel Village refi”
Common in 1955–1970 stock. Replace + upgrade is the typical path.
“Sunrise Electrical rewired our house, replacing the old knob-and-tube wiring with seamless, safe, and up-to-code wiring at a very reasonable price. They were incredibly efficient, worked cleanly, and addressed all our questions and concerns with care. We can't recommend them highly enough!”
“Branden & his experienced crew installed a Level 2 electric charger together with an extra 240v outlet in our Live Oak garage. They were informed, congenial, & professional and their work was timely and permitted as required by the County. (The cost of the County permit was 53% of the entire project cost — no 5 stars for the County.) I highly recommend Sunrise Electrical!”
