What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can remember things between page loads — your preferences, whether you've already seen a banner, anonymous statistics about how the site is used. They are not unique to Sunrise; nearly every website uses them.
We also use “similar technologies” — local storage, server-set first-party identifiers, and a couple of pixel-style trackers — that work the same way for the purposes described here.
Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into three categories. The Cookie Settings panel (linked from the footer of every page) lets you toggle the optional categories.
Essential (always on)
Required for the site to function. Can't be disabled.
- sunrise_session — Sunrise (first-party) · browser session · maintains your browsing session.
- consent_banner_dismissed — Sunrise (first-party) · browser session · remembers that you've dismissed the consent banner so it doesn't reappear during this visit. Resets at the start of your next session.
- consent_preferences — Sunrise (first-party) · 1 year · remembers your active opt-in / opt-out choices made via the Cookie Settings panel. Only set if you've used the panel to make a choice.
Analytics (anonymized usage)
Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can fix what's confusing and double down on what's working.
- _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics 4 · 2 years · measures website usage.
- _gid — Google Analytics 4 · 24 hours · distinguishes visitors.
- _clck, _clsk, __clarity_* — Microsoft Clarity · up to 1 year · anonymized session recordings and heatmaps for UX research. Form inputs and the AI chat panel are masked — your name, email, phone, and chat conversation are never recorded.
Marketing (advertising attribution)
Help us understand which marketing channels drive customers to the site, so we can spend our marketing budget where it actually works.
- _gcl_* — Google Ads · 90 days · conversion tracking for Google Ads.
- ServiceTitan DNI session cookie — ServiceTitan · browser session · holds the phone number assigned to your session for accurate call attribution. See Call tracking below.
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) cookies will appear here if and when Sunrise begins paid advertising on those platforms. They are not currently active.
Call tracking
When you arrive at sunriseelectricalcontracting.com from a known source — a Google Ads click, a specific marketing campaign, a recognized referrer — the phone number displayed on the page may be a tracking number rather than our main office line. The tracking number routes calls to our real office line at (831) 786-5506 and lets us measure which marketing channels are working.
Direct visitors (no campaign source detected) see our main office line.
The tracking number is a session-scoped, first-party identifier that doesn't track you across other websites.
Your choices
You can manage your choices at any time:
- Cookie Settings panel: Click “Cookie Settings” in the footer of any page. Toggle Analytics or Marketing off; choices set here persist for a year across sessions (this is the actual opt-out, and we keep it durable on purpose). Simply dismissing the consent banner without opening Cookie Settings is just an acknowledgement, not an opt-out — the banner is designed to re-appear at the start of your next visit as a soft reminder that the controls are still here.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT): If your browser sends either signal (Brave, Firefox, and others support GPC natively), we treat it as an automatic opt-out from Analytics and Marketing categories. No banner or manual step needed.
- Browser-level cookie controls: Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Doing this may break the site (the Essential category is what keeps your session working).
Updates to this policy
When we add a new processor or change the categories, we update this page and re-prompt for consent at your next visit. Material changes are also flagged at the top of the page for 30 days.
