SEER2 — Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio v2

Also known as: SEER2Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio

SEER2 is the standardized measure of an air conditioner or heat pump's cooling efficiency over a typical cooling season. Higher SEER2 = more cooling output per unit of electricity consumed. The "2" version (effective 2023) replaced the older SEER metric with revised test conditions that better reflect real-world installation conditions.

Typical 2026 ranges: - Builder-grade / minimum efficiency: SEER2 14-15 - Standard residential: SEER2 16-18 - High efficiency: SEER2 19-22 - CEE Tier 2 (Section 25C qualifying): SEER2 ≥ 16.0 in South region

SEER2 is the HVAC contractor's spec, not ours. We note it because it appears in tax credit conversations.
