SEER2 — Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio v2

Also known as: SEER2Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio

SEER2 is the standardized measure of an air conditioner or heat pump's cooling efficiency over a typical cooling season. Higher SEER2 = more cooling output per unit of electricity consumed. The "2" version (effective 2023) replaced the older SEER metric with revised test conditions that better reflect real-world installation conditions.

Compare the certified SEER2 ratings for the equipment combinations being proposed. Use the AHRI Directory to check the ratings. A cooling-efficiency rating does not by itself establish rebate eligibility, and Section 25C ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025.
