CEE Tier 2 — Consortium for Energy Efficiency Tier 2

CEE Tier 2 is an efficiency tier defined by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency. CEE publishes specifications for different equipment categories. A tier identifies performance requirements; it does not by itself establish eligibility for a tax credit or rebate.
Check the applicable equipment specification and the rules of the programme you are applying to. Older Section 25C material refers to CEE efficiency tiers, but that federal credit ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025.
An equipment efficiency rating and a programme's eligibility rules are separate checks. Ask your HVAC contractor to identify the equipment and show how it meets the requirements of any incentive included in the proposal.
