EV Charge Time Calculator
How long a charge takes on the charger you have — or the one you're considering — and what it costs on PG&E's EV rate.
This session
- Power reaching the battery2.6 kW
- Added to the battery45 kWh
- Drawn from the grid50 kWh
- Cost off-peak$11.28
- Cost at peak$26.90
- Saved by charging off-peak$15.63
Over a year
- Charging per year3,333.3 kWh
- Yearly cost off-peak$751.93
- Yearly saving off-peak$1041.70
Off-peak and peak are PG&E Schedule EV2-A. Charging overnight is the whole reason the two numbers differ.
What's in this number
Charge time is the energy the pack needs divided by the power actually reaching it — amps times 240 volts, times a 90% factor for charging losses. Cost uses PG&E Schedule EV2-A, which is why the off-peak and peak numbers differ so much: the gap between them is the reason to plug in overnight. Battery sizes and efficiencies are manufacturer figures for the trim named; pick Other / Custom and enter your own if your car isn't listed.
