GoGreen Home Energy Financing is California's state-backed loan program for residential energy work. Administered by CAEATFA (California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority) and delivered through participating community lenders. Sunrise's primary lending partner is Matadors Community Credit Union for most Santa Cruz County customers.
Terms (typical, 2026): - Loan amount: varies by lender and project - Term: up to 15 years - Rate: fixed APR, typically 4.99-7.99% depending on credit score + term length - Eligible work: solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers, heat pumps (HVAC and water), induction ranges, HPWHs, electrical panel upgrades when part of an electrification project
Why this exists: CAEATFA absorbs default risk for participating lenders, which lets them offer lower rates than typical home-improvement loans. It's the cleanest fixed-rate financing path for owned solar + battery + electrification work — no lease entanglement, no third-party agreement buyout pricing, no balloon payments.
Post-Section 25D expiration, financing the work yourself (instead of via lease) keeps you eligible for system ownership benefits — you own the equipment, you keep all the avoided-utility-cost savings, the system stays with your house when you sell. GoGreen is the most practical fixed-rate path for owned systems.
Our financing partner is GoGreen Home through participating community lenders. If an older proposal or ad names a different lender, ask us — GoGreen is the program we work with.
