E-TOU-C — PG&E Standard Residential TOU Rate
Also known as: PG&E E-TOU-Cstandard residential TOU
E-TOU-C is PG&E's default time-of-use rate plan for residential customers. Peak hours are typically 4pm-9pm weekdays (when demand is highest). Off-peak is everything else. Lower differential between peak and off-peak than EV-2A, but no EV-specific assumption baked in.
Most homes default to E-TOU-C when they sign up with PG&E (or get moved to it from older flat-rate plans). Solar customers benefit somewhat from E-TOU-C because solar generation peaks at midday (off-peak production) while your peak-hour use draws from grid (more expensive). Battery storage amplifies this.
E-TOU-C is fine for most non-EV households. Solar + battery on E-TOU-C can do better with the right load-shifting. EV owners should look at EV-2A.
