Why we built Sunrise.

I've been an electrician in Santa Cruz County since right around 2006. Twenty years of pulling wire, replacing panels, installing chargers, troubleshooting circuits that nobody else wanted to look at. I grew up in the trades — my dad was a general contractor and home builder, so I was working on houses even before I picked up electrical. Most of those years I worked under other contractors, doing the kind of work I'm proud of but watching the same problem play out over and over.

A homeowner would call about a small job — replacing a light fixture in a bedroom, troubleshooting an outlet in a garage, adding a dedicated circuit for a new appliance — and they'd get voicemail. Or they'd get a callback two weeks later, after the contractor had already taken three new-construction jobs and didn't have room for a service call. Or the contractor would just decline, because a one-hour electrical fix doesn't make money like a kitchen remodel does.

The result: people couldn't get their houses fixed. The work I love most — making someone's actual home safer or more useful — was the work that nobody was willing to take.

So in 2022 I started Sunrise.
